Camp New Day U.P. counselors play a critical role in creating a safe, supportive, and positive camp experience for youth. Counselors are responsible for the daily supervision, care, and engagement of campers and serve as positive role models throughout the week.
Counselor Responsibilities
Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for campers and staff.
Report directly to Camp Deans regarding any concerns involving campers, fellow counselors, or staff.
Remain with at least one camper at all times, except during approved breaks or meetings with Deans.
Limit cell phone, texting, email, and internet use to designated break times only.
Supervise and coordinate at least one camper choice activity per day.
Attend mandatory pre-camp training on the Saturday and Sunday prior to camp.
Ensure campers in your cabin arrive at all scheduled activities on time.
Support daily routines, including showers, bedtime, quiet time, and lights out.
Monitor camper well-being and report any unusual behaviors (e.g., changes in eating, sleeping, or mood).
Sit with campers during meals and provide ongoing supervision.
Remain in the cabin overnight unless alternative arrangements are approved by Camp Deans.
Follow all legally mandated reporting requirements related to child abuse or neglect.

Camp New Day U.P. Health Officers play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and medical care of campers and staff. Health Officers are responsible for providing first aid, administering medications, maintaining health records, and responding to medical emergencies in accordance with camp policies and state regulations. This position requires a licensed health provider.
Health Officer Responsibilities
Provide first aid and emergency care to campers and staff as needed.
Administer medications according to camp policies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date health records for all campers and staff.
Respond promptly and professionally to medical emergencies.
Ensure compliance with camp health policies and state regulations.
Educate staff and campers on basic health and safety practices.
Support daily routines and monitor camper well-being, reporting any unusual behaviors (e.g., changes in eating, sleeping, or mood) to the Camp Director.
Attend mandatory pre-camp training prior to camp sessions.
Remain on-duty during all camp operating hours to ensure immediate medical support is available.
Follow all legally mandated reporting requirements related to medical care and safety.
