VOLUNTEER/STAFF REQUIREMENTS

Adult Staff & Volunteers

All adult staff and volunteers must:

• Submit a completed Camp New Day U.P. Volunteer Application

• Provide three professional references

• Complete an ICHAT background check, including:

• Full legal name (including aliases or maiden names)

  • Date of birth

  • Race

  • Sex

• Follow all Camp New Day U.P. policies, including safety, boundaries, confidentiality, and camper conduct expectations

Volunteers Under 18

Volunteers under the age of 18 must:

• Submit a completed Volunteer Application

• Provide three professional references (non-family references preferred)

• Work under the direct supervision of an adult counselor or staff member

• Meet the same standards of behavior and professionalism as adult staff

Staff Training

All camp staff and volunteers are required to complete training prior to attending camp.

General Expectations

• All Camp New Day U.P. staff and volunteers are expected to:

• Uphold the mission of Camp New Day U.P. by providing a safe, supportive, and joyful experience for youth impacted by incarceration

• Model respectful, responsible, and inclusive behavior

• Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries with campers

• Work collaboratively with fellow staff and volunteers
